The convenience of a compact and efficient Vent Free Wall Heater is what many “dollar conscious” consumers have chosen to provide their families with the warmth and comfort they need to brave those frigid winter months.

Whether you are in the market for a Vent Free Wall Heater, or if you already own one, we encourage you to review these important safety tips. Safety is our number one priority when it comes to gas heating appliances for your home and we would like for all of our customers to have the same knowledge and understanding of these products as we do! We hope that you enjoy the many changes that winter brings by keeping warm and cozy with your very own Vent Free Wall Heater!

Safety Do’s and Don’ts

Always maintain a safe distance from these units while they are in operation and allow them ample time to cool once they’ve been shut off.

Be sure to alert all children and adults to the hazard of high surface temperatures while these appliances are in use.

Young children should be carefully supervised and never left unattended when they are in the same room with these appliances, whether ON or OFF.

Do not leave your Vent Free Wall Heater on while you sleep. These units are not meant to be left unattended.

Do not place clothing or other flammable material on or near the appliance at any time. Using a Vent Free Wall Heater of any kind to dry your wet clothing is NOT RECOMMENDED.

Do take the time to make sure that the smoke alarms in your home are fully functional and have fresh batteries. If your home is not currently outfitted with smoke detectors, we strongly recommend you purchase one for each room in your home. Products such as Carbon Monoxide Detectors and Smoke Alarms can be found at any local hardware store.

We recommend that a qualified installer, service agency or the gas supplier, perform all installation and service for these appliances. Professionals in this area of expertise can be located on the web at the following addresses: www.nficertified.org, www.handyman.com, and www.angieslist.com

Helpful Hints

Although these units come standard with up-to-date safety features like flame-failure protection and an oxygen detection safety-pilot or ODS, we still recommend that a qualified professional service your unit at least once annually.

All of the models available on our site are CSA design-certified to the current national safety standards.

It is important for all owners of gas heating appliances to learn to recognize the odor of LP(liquid propane) or Natural Gas, whichever you have for your home. Your local gas dealer or provider can give you a "Scratch and Sniff" pamphlet. Use it to find out what the propane or natural gas odor smells like, and familiarize yourself with that distinct smell.

If, at any time, you do not smell gas and you think you should, assume you have a leak.

Before lighting, smell all around the appliance area for gas. Be sure to smell next to the floor because some gases are heavier than air and will settle on the floor.

What to do if you smell gas

Do not try to light any appliance.

Do not touch any electrical switch or use any telephone in your building, cell or landline.

Immediately call your gas supplier from a neighbor's telephone and follow the gas supplier's instructions. If you cannot reach your gas supplier, call the fire department.

Someday, when there may not be a minute to lose, everyone's safety will depend on you knowing exactly what to do!

Carbon Monoxide Poisoning

These appliances do have the capability to omit carbon monoxide gas. This only occurs, however, if the unit is dirty, dusty, not regularly serviced, improperly installed or when used without fresh air.

Early signs of carbon monoxide poisoning resemble the flu with headaches, dizziness, or nausea. If you, or anyone in your family encounters these signs, the heater may not be working properly. In this case you will want to get fresh air at once, and have your heater serviced before turning it on for future use.

We urge that all of our customers read and retain their owner’s manual for future reference. This manual will act as your guide to many years of safe and by-the-book operation of your Vent Free Wall Heater.

It is our belief that an informed consumer has the best opportunity to make intelligent decisions when it comes to getting the most out of their purchase. We hope you do the same and enjoy these products for years to come!

Notable Installation Facts
